Journey into the rhythmic world of whale and dolphin communication via multi-media and a hands-on set of activities in this FREE program for children.

Instructors will help children use drums and other percussion instruments to imitate cetacean songs and communicate with each other. Together they will discover how difficult communication becomes when mingled with noises made by ships and other man-made sounds.

Children will learn the basics of whale and dolphin communication and the importance of conserving cetaceans and their habitats. Ages 2-17 years old.

Author Visit - R.J. Adams

Tuesday, April 28
6:30-7:30pm
John Steinbeck Library

R.J. Adams, author of "The Field Guide to Spiders of California and the Pacific Coast States," will be visiting the John Steinbeck Library this month.

Over half of the world’s spider families live within the three adjoining Pacific Coast states - not surprising, considering the wide variety of habitats, from mountain meadows and desert dunes to redwood forests and massive urban centers. Mr. Adams’ field guide provides readers with tools for identifying many of the region’s spiders.

Join us, as Mr. Adams presents a fascinating lecture on the incredible diversity of the spider kingdom, with excerpts from his field guide, and illustrations that will never be forgotten.
