Snappy is the Salinas Public Library mascot. Snappy is a male Leopard Tortoise donated to the Library by Jurassic Pets. Snappy was named by the community through a popular vote. Snappy enjoys gourmet meals of fresh dandelions, radicchio, malva, opuntia cactus, kale, bindweed and clover with an occasional plum, strawberry or peach. On sunny days, he spends time in his Reading Room outside. On most Sundays Snappy takes a warm bath. Yes, even tortoises have to take baths!
