Our Story

Salinas Public Library Director, Elizabeth Martinez, first introduced the idea of a Digital Arts Lab to the Salinas City Council November 11, 2007. Her idea became reality due to financial support from the Rally Salinas Fund. The Irvine Foundation also donated $25,000 to purchase computers and equipment for the first lab located at the John Steinbeck Library. The second lab, located at the Cesar Chavez Library, was made possible when Salinas Public Library won $10,000 for taking first place in the statewide Fast Internet Matters video contest.
