Paypal Donations

The Salinas Public Library is now accepting donations through Paypal.

Paypal is a safe and secure way to donate. If you click the Donate icon below, you will be taken to the Paypal site, where, once your transaction is completed, you will receive a detailed transaction receipt for your tax-deductable donation. You do not need to have a Paypal account to use the site to donate.

Any amount is greatly appreciated, be it $10, $50, $100 or more. Through Paypal, we can honor all major credit cards or receive your donation directly from your bank account. Again, any donation amount is appreciated.

Amazon Wish List

The Salinas Public Library now makes it easy to donate new items to the library by using the Library’s newly created Amazon Wish List.  Using an Amazon account, a title(s) may be selected from the list, purchased, and shipped directly to the Library.  The Wish List may be viewed at the following Internet address:

Books & Media

Your donation of books, music, videos, or other materials is greatly appreciated. Donated items become the property of Salinas Public Library and are reviewed by staff to determine if they will be added to our collections. Materials not chosen for addition are given to the Friends of the Library to be sold in their Book Boutique at the John Steinbeck Library. Please do NOT donate:

  • VHS Movies*
  • Cassette Tapes (Books or Music)*
  • Magazines, loose or in bound volumes
  • Encyclopedias
  • Textbooks*
  • Law books
  • Musty, mildewed, soiled or damaged items

* Please Note: Friends of the Salinas Public Library will accept donations of VHS Movies, Cassette Tapes and Textbooks.

How To Donate Items

We welcome gently used books and media. If you have fewer than 50 items, you may drop them off at the Circulation Desk at any of our locations. If you have more than 50 items, please have them boxed or bagged and arrange a time to drop them off at the John Steinbeck Library. Please call us at (831) 758-7311.

PLEASE do not leave items in the library’s outside return bins or outside the library buildings.
